it’s the selfless Knit4Charities local crew that don’t mind a bit of natter while they knit.

So ladies, tell us all about it?

“Our local group has been up & running since October 2018. We are all part of the Knit4Charities Australia which has been going since 2004 and Knit4Charities South Australia has been going since 2012 and we tend to donate our creations to local charities.

Most attendees are local but the they come from near and far and everyone is welcome.

Some of the charities we support include Walk with Wings, Vinnies, Food Bank, a lot of the hospitals, Animal Welfare League, RSPCA, lots of the women’s refuges and many foster parents and nursing homes.

Anyone can come along to our get togethers and it doesn’t matter if you can’t knit, we help each other through, so we will show you and if you don’t want to knit you can just talk. We do more nattering than we do knitting!”

Besides all the great work you do, what other benefits do you get from coming together.

“It’s social - we all get together and have fun. It also makes us feel good that through doing what we do, we are actually helping people that are in need - it feels good to know we are making a difference.

In closing, the ladies want to let you all know, “that we are always happy to have new people come along. Also to please remember, you don’t have to knit for charity -people are quite welcome to come along and just knit for themselves! It’s also about getting together being social and having some fun, so if you want some company you can just join in with us, we would love to have you!!

There are lots of Knit4Charities groups all over Adelaide, so check out ‘Knit4Charities Adelaide Knit and Natter’ on Facebook and request to join the group.

Why do you like meeting at the Red Lime Shack?

“Well, we started the Port group and our first get together was planned for the Port Library and due to a mixup with dates that didn’t work out. So, after some brainstorming we decided the Red Lime Shack was the best place - everyone showed up there and we spoke to Steph and that was it! We’ve never left - it’s the perfect place to get together plus we can have coffee or lunch whenever we like.”

Here’s another example of good people doing good things in our community... Love ya work to everyone involved!! — at Red Lime Shack.
