Hi, i’m Darryl Poole…
but call me ‘Pooley’ if you like.
I’m not big on banging on about myself, i’d much rather talk about how we can work together to make the best community going around even better… so, i’ll keep this bit short.
I’m a born and bred Port boy who has a creative side and an unwavering passion and love for our community and everyone in it.
I suppose it was drummed into me early by my family, friends and teachers, what it meant to be a true local and later reinforced when a walked through the doors of the Port Adelaide Football Club as a youngster trying to get a kick. There was no compromise, our belief was strong, we played to win and we played for everyone that was part of our footy club from the captain to the five year old supporter… it’s a family. We stuck together and looked after our own, we all had a place within our community and we only achieved anything worthwhile if we did it together. Looking back, I was really lucky to represent our community with the Magpies and the Power… and all those good lessons I learnt along the way have stuck with me.
I’m also someone who has a creative side and a keen interest in capturing moments that can tell a story and make a difference through photography.
So over the last few years i’ve combined my photography and my love for our community through a platform I created, called ‘it’s Port Adelaide.’ From the beginning, ‘it’s Port Adelaide’ was about showcasing our hidden gems, celebrating our unique characters by telling stories of the incredible people that make up our community, all through the lens of a camera. ‘it’s Port Adelaide’ has evolved over time and thanks to you all, we have collectively donated thousands of dollars to local grass root initiatives through the proceeds of my prints. We have shared stories of local legends that create a positive snowball effect within our community, we’ve partnered up with a heap of local key movers and shakers as we strive to make the best community going around even better and it’s all thanks to you!
I’m really grateful that you like hanging out at ‘it’s Port Adelaide’ because what I know is, to make real, sustainable, positive change in our community, we all need to work together… and besides, it’s just more fun!!
